‘The Vacancy’ – good news!

question mark

Searching for a new vicar takes time and prayer, as it is so important that the fit is right for both parish and vicar. Our search started early in 2016, with the writing of the Parish Profile, and there were two rounds of interviews to find the perfect match. In November 2016, we were very pleased to announce that the Revd Frances Trickey was appointed as the next Vicar of Oxshott and that she accepted. Frances has been the Associate Minister in a parish of two churches in the Diocese of Bath and Wells. She and her husband, Jolyon, will come to live in the vicarage in April. The formal service of collation, induction and installation will take place on Tuesday 25 April 2017.

Who was on the interview panel?

The panel was chaired by Bishop Andrew, and the membership was Archdeacon, Paul Bryer; Area Dean, Alan Jenkins; and two parish representatives.

What happens at St Andrew’s until the new vicar arrives?

Activity at St Andrew’s will continue unabated. The Ministry Team will continue to make excellent provision for all our services, supported by guest ministers to preach and lead services. Christmas will have all the services Oxshott has come to know and love, and all other activities will continue as normal.

Who do I speak to about weddings, baptisms, funerals, or any other queries?

If you would like to speak to someone about anything to do with St Andrew’s, Sue Rees in the Parish Office will be able to help or put you in contact with someone who can. The parish office is open between 9.30am and 1pm Mon to Fri (answering machine operates out of hours).

How can we keep in touch with news over the next few months?

The two church wardens, Phillip Herbert and Norman Steven are responsible for maintaining the worship in its present form until the vacancy is filled. Check out the weekly churchwardens’ blog on the website and in the weekly news, which gives updates on many aspects of St Andrew’s life.
