St Andrew’s Men’s Breakfasts and Women's Breakfasts provide an occasional opportunity for local men and women to meet socially and consider the implications of Christian faith in daily life.
For many years, St Andrew’s Church Oxshott has run two or three Saturday morning breakfasts for men and puts on a similar events for women. The guest speakers provide the catalyst for this as they tell how their faith in Jesus Christ has changed, and now shapes, their professional and private lives. These guest speakers span the spectrum of arts and sciences, business and the professions.
The stories of a politician, an international futurist, a BBC news reporter, a pop impresario, a former con man, a Concorde pilot, the chairman of one of the largest professional firms in the world, a Queen’s surgeon among many others have invariably one thing in common. They illustrate that we can follow Jesus in the real world and when we do, it makes a difference.

As Head of Corporate Development and deputy CFO of Unilever, John Ripley was valued for his strategic vision and insight. He is said to have the knack of bringing a number of complex things together and build them to a relatively simple solution.
And yet, when it comes to the green agenda, ethical trading across the world, financial integrity in transactions with corrupt regimes, genetic engineering, the implicit values of advertising to consumers and even life’s personal tragedies, he finds there are no easy answers. His aim, he says, was to maintain a ‘prickable’ conscience and think christianly. Retiring in 2009 after 35 years with the same company, he enthusiastically supports the London Institute of Contemporary Christianity as it helps decision makers in commerce, politics, the arts and professions to allow their Christian faith to guide them as they work out their answers to life’s hard questions.

A Whole New Ball Game
Tom Henner played basketball for LSU, baseball for the Boston Red Sox then the New York Mets before settling for golf. He became a member of the US PGA 26 years ago. A former Vice President for the $1.5 billion dollar Club Corp International, Tom is known for two things. He can pick good teams and he can make money. But that’s not to say it’s all been plain sailing. Things didn’t always worked out as well as they might - an abusive step father first taught him that. It’s his relationship with the Father in Heaven that is really the whole new ball game. Fascinatingly candid.
