On January 28 the PCC and others met for prayers asking for wisdom in finding the new incumbent (or vicar as we know it). In the PCC meeting that followed the budget for 2016 was agreed. We need to continue to trust God for generous giving during the year so that we can continue to support our mission partners and balance our books. The difference between what is promised and what is needed is approximately £27,000.
Norman and I reported on our meeting earlier that day with Paul, the Archdeacon and Alan, the Rural Dean and, with no time to lose, the PCC began some preliminary work for the Parish Profile. The replies to the questionnaire are already proving useful in this. (The last chance to complete yours is Sunday 31 Jan.).
Paul urged us not to be in too much of a hurry. Quoting from the book of Ecclesiastes [3:1]
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven”
he advised that the time between one minister and the next is often a time when a church grows and develops in ways that weren’t possible before, and is all the better for it.
Let’s hope (and pray) that that will be true for us!
