We made the following announcement this morning in church.

During the last few months, we have all been praying for God to guide not only us but also the applicants in the appointment of the next Vicar.  We believe that he has answered that prayer this week and are very glad that he’s done so.But it is not in the way we expected!  After praying carefully about the offer made to him, the preferred candidate has told the Bishop of Guildford that being the Vicar of Oxshott is not God’s will for him. You will understand that we cannot break confidences and say any more than that. The Diocese will advertise the position again at the end of the summer.

You have all been wonderfully supportive and helpful during the Vacancy: praying and working have brought us closer together as a church. Please do keep praying. We are encouraged to believe that God has plans for us here. He will bring the right person to us in his own good time. In the meantime, he needs all of us here to keep moving forward and serving him.

Previously in times of uncertainty, the official advice was ‘Keep Calm and Carry On.’  We can go one better, ‘Trust God – Keep Calm and Carry On!’

Richard Bewes preached a great sermon this morning. We strongly recommend you listen to it.
