Give thanks with a grateful heart is the first line of a catchy song that we sometimes sing in church. The sort of song that sticks in your mind and goes round and round for the rest of the day.
When it does, it can be helpful. However difficult the day may become, if we let the peace of Christ rule our hearts we can be thankful.
In church last night both before and in the PCC meeting, we were able to thank God for the way he has blessed us in the year since the last St Andrew’s day. In teaching the word of Christ, through faithful (often unnoticed) service and by the generosity that enables us to meet all our financial needs at home and continue our outward giving, God has blessed us richly. We are grateful that we can trust God to guide us and the candidates who have applied to be our next vicar.
Give thanks with a grateful heart will be the theme of our services this Sunday.
