Regular commuters from Oxshott are used to hearing the phrase “We wish to apologise for the disruption to our services…”
Our regular Sunday service pattern has been disrupted over the last six weeks but we do not apologise. Alternating Whole church communion one Sunday with Whole church Oxshott Praise the next has drawn together regulars from 9.30 and 11.15 to praise God, remember the Lord’s death and hear his word with joy. And joy has been evident: at times we wardens have almost had to push people out to get our Sunday lunch.
To coin another phrase, Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
On 4 September we return to 8.00, 9.30 and 11.15 services every Sunday. It’s the wardens’ responsibility in the vacancy to ‘provide for the pattern of worship to carry on as near normally as possible’. Happily, the Holy Spirit does not come under the control of Canon Law so we pray that he will move freely in all these services. As you leave, we want you to be able to say, like Jesus’ disciples, “Lord it is good for us to be here!”
