Last Sunday we enjoyed the ministry of Mike Barton in all three of our Sunday morning services. Mike gave up a good job in Canary Wharf to study for the ordained ministry. Now, at the end of his curacy at Holy Trinity Claygate, he is moving up to Lancashire with his wife and two young daughters to become a vicar in Longridge.

Archbishop Justin Welby describes ministry as ‘the adventure of serving as Jesus served’. All of us (lay as well as clergy), he says, are called to serve in some way depending on our particular gifts, skills and life experience. So many of you have served us well during the vacancy. Please don’t think of giving up when Frances comes. St Andrew’s, your church, needs you!
