It’s been a busy week for wardens. Former warden Andrew Burns excelled at beating the dust out of the door mat at last Saturday’s spring clean. Mike Newman, Chris Begley and Carl Jackson shovelled and raked a tonne of gravel over the vicarage drive on Tuesday. Norman’s been busy in the church kitchen with the installation of a brand-new dishwasher. (It will replace Ron Stewart and others regularly seen with rolled-up sleeves washing up after Sunday coffee.) Outside, scaffolding is up for the men inspecting and repairing the church roof. Others of us are checking out a new phone system and working on the service for the big event on 25 April.
‘One volunteer is worth ten pressed men’ was often quoted by a church leader to Phillip when he was about to give him a job. We may be saying it to you as the big event (installation of our new vicar) approaches. We still need help to organize parking, set up tables, hand round food and clear up afterwards. Are you on the list in the vestibule?
