The churchwardens’ responsibility during a vacancy is to provide for the pattern of services to continue for the good of the parish. We do this with the help of a good ministry team who are responsible for music and preaching.
They have taught us about how individuals in the bible who had a heart for God could made a difference for good. The Queen is a good example of this today and over 1400 copies of the story of her faith in Jesus Christ have been appreciatively received in the parish.
The Lord Jesus said that the first and greatest commandment is to love God with all one’s heart. He then added the second great commandment – to love one’s neighbour as one’s self. But we can be a bit picky about our neighbours. So on Sundays over the next few weeks we shall think of what it means to have a heart for people that are special to God but may not naturally tick our ‘add friend’ box.
