Plans continue to evolve for the next phase of the St Andrew’s Building Project, to bring about major improvements to the hall, vestibule, kitchen, toilets, offices, storage, terrace and outside space. It is intended that this will include new facilities for all our children’s activities, including pre-school, enabling the main hall to be used during the week for church and community activities.
Detailed plans and costings for the proposed new children’s facility have already been developed. However, the Archdeacon’s informal guidance is to ‘slow down’ the process, so that any views that a new incumbent may have about the space and the facilities offered can be taken into account. Another meeting is due with the Archdeacon in a few weeks time, to present current proposals and plans in more detail, so that he is fully aware of what we are aiming to achieve, and so that we can move to the stage of applying for outline planning permission. However, the work will need a Faculty, and to secure that, we will need both his and the full backing of the Diocesan Advisory Committee.
The latest proposals and plans are being presented to the congregation in a series of presentations, so that everyone is up to speed with current thinking, and with fundraising targets and opportunities. New dates will be published in the weekly news sheet and on the website.
