On the evening of 20 December, over 200 people came to St Andrew’s to sing carols, listen to Bible readings and enjoy the choir singing Christmas songs and anthems. Among the congregation, St Andrew’s was delighted to welcome the Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of Elmbridge, Jan Fuller and Consort, whose guests included the High Sheriff of Surrey, Elizabeth Kennedy; the Mayor & Mayoress of Spelthorne; the Mayor of Guildford & Consort; Chairman of Tandridge & Consort; and Freeman of the Borough of Elmbridge, Michael Aspel & partner.
After the service, all were invited to join the Mayor and her guests for mulled wine and mince pies in the hall. Donations were made in aid of the Mayor’s chosen charity, SPARKS, which raises money to fund pioneering children’s medical research. 1 in 30 children is born in the UK with a condition which may affect them for life. Sparks supports clinicians and scientists to find cures and treatments for them.
