‘Phil’ the Bag

Building a churchThis is a golden opportunity for us all to de-clutter our wardrobes, cupboards and drawers while raising funds for Phase 2 of the Building Project. All you have to do is start filling a black sack or similar, collecting your unwanted items between now and Tuesday 10 October.

When you have a full bag either bring it to church on a Sunday morning or preferably leave it in the porch at Longstead, Sheath Lane, the home of Ruth and Andrew Burns. Items to collect include:-

  • adult & children’s clothing
  • hats
  • shoes
  • belts
  • handbags
  • household textiles including:-
    • sheets
    • pillow cases
    • duvet covers
    • curtains
    • towels

We are paid by the kilo, so every item counts!

‘Phil’ the bag is a business that specialises in collecting and buying quality second-hand clothes in their original condition, which are then sold to wholesalers in emerging nations. They then sell them on to market traders at affordable prices.

Sorry, but they do not accept:-

  • blankets
  • bric-a-abrac
  • duvets
  • pillows
  • sleeping bags
  • rugs
  • carpets
  • off-cuts of fabric
  • any wet items
  • tent canvas
  • ripped or stained clothing

Please bear in mind that the clothing is for re-use, so should be in a wearable condition
