Klub Novi Most has a vision to work with young people in Mostar, Bosmia to develop their God-given skills and character, to empower them to become instruments of transformation in their community and to challenge them to explore a relationship with God.

Over the 2 weeks out in Bosnia Herzogovina, we were split into 3 groups - Philippa and Kerry worked at the Camp, Holly and Andrew worked in Caplijna, and Roland, Paul and Caitlin were working in Mostar.

On the left here we can see some games being played at Camp.

On the Camp lots of games were played - sometimes incorporating dressing-up (see right). In Mostar there were themed-evenings - for example one evening we planned and led a 'sweetie' themed night - the games included 'chubby bunnies' amongst other fun activities!

Each of us had something to offer Novi Most and the children. Roland was keen to teach them how to play touch rugby... unfortunately they werent so keen and resorted to an ever poplular game of hockey. They played sport in the evening, when the temperature dropped to just below 40 degrees, at the local sporting ground.

Novi Most is keen to promote the community feel of it's events, so many of the activities were team based and involved participants to rely on their team-mates, and trust in their help.

Over the 2 weeks the most popular games (by far) were Uno and the Bosnian game Ligretto (this is similar to Racing Demon). The children enjoyed having the company and the new faces that we could provide, but fortunately there wasn't much talking involved so the language barrier was not as much of a problem!

We all thoroughly enjoyed the 2 weeks out there, despite it being incredibly hot and tiring, we all found it very rewarding. For some of us the  most memorable experience was visiting the close gypsy camp based on a rubbish dump. The children had very little and almost no hope for their futures, and earned little money by scavanging through the rubbish. However, despite being muddy, having rotten teeth, matted hair, few clothes and even being ill, they were ecstatic when we went to play with them and just show them some love and attention that they haven't recieved much of before.                       Report:Caitlin
