20 - 22 April 2007
Parmoor, Frieth, Henley-on-Thames
Parmoor is a retreat home and conference centre welcoming all denominations, for day or residential visits. Sitting high up in the Chiltern Hills on the outskirts of the village, the house is full of history. In the 12th century the property was allegedly owned by the Knights Templar.
In 1996 a small group of people went to the House of Bethany near Hindhead on a Quiet Week-end or Retreat. They found it a very worthwhile spiritual experience and so repeated it the following year. Now it has become an annual event.
So why do we go on retreat?
Rev. Richard King, the Diocesan Spiritual Adviser, wrote the thought provoking words:
"We come on retreat not to retreat (i.e. run away) but to confront, to confront the demons which enslave us.”
This year Richard King shared leadership of the retreat Discerning the Voice of God with the Rt. Rev. David Wilcox. Bishop David spoke of the value of silence in the spiritual life.
NEXT YEAR'S DATES WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY!
