Prayer at St Andrew's

As Christians we believe that prayer is fundamental to our relationship with God.  It is an amazing gift from the Almighty Creator God that he promises to hear us whenever we turn to him and, what is more, to answer our prayers.

Here at St Andrew's we have a monthly Prayer Cycle.  Look in the latest copy of the pew sheet to find out what we are praying for together this week.  Find the pew sheet by clicking here, or pick up a copy from the church vestibule.

You are invited to include the prayer topics for each day in your own prayer time and to use them as a basis for intercession in all the various church groups.

The Lady Chapel in the church has been set aside as an area for prayer. Anyone is welcome to come in to sit and reflect or pray whenever the church is not otherwise in use.  This Prayer Corner can be found on the right-hand side of the church.

If you are unable to come to the church yourself or if you would like somebody to pray for you or with you, please contact our Prayer Coordinator through a member of the congregation or through the Parish Office.

We meet for Parish prayers and a short discussion at 8.30am in the Lady Chapel on Saturday mornings, lasting about half an hour.  You are very welcome to join us for all or part of this session.

Prayers are also said in the Parish Office twice a week, on Tuesdays at 9.00am and Wednesdays at 8.30am, and you are very welcome to join us.

A prayer for Oxshott:

Loving Heavenly Father, we thank you that you have called us together  to be faithful witnesses to the Gospel in Oxshott, We pray that we may show our gratitude for your grace at work in us as our love overflows to those around us and beyond; we pray that by your Spirit we may discern your purposes for us here and that we may be filled with joy as we serve one another and you; through Him who came not to be served but to serve, Jesus Christ, our Lord.   Amen

Prayer in Vision2012

Prayer has been identified as one of the 'enablers' of our vision for St Andrew's.  Prayer should underpin everything that we undertake as part of the Vision, so that we can see clearly where God is leading us.  We have, therefore, developed a Strategy for Prayer aimed at encouraging every member our church family in their prayers and to feel more confident as they pray.  (Click here for more details of Vision2012)

Please join in our prayer for Vision2012 - our vision of St Andrew's as a vibrant, growing and united church, reaching out to proclaim the Gospel of Christ - by praying with us our vision prayer:

Our Father God, inspire us with the Vision for Your church in Oxshott.  By Your Holy spirit, help us to recognise and value all the gifts that You have given to us, and to dedicate them in Your service to the glory of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen
