As well as the 5 'workstreams', we identified activities that are especially important to us in realising our Vision for St Andrew's - what we called the 4 'enablers', but now 5 because we've added one!
These are: Prayer, Stewardship, Communications and Organisational Competency, and now also Buildings.
As with the workstreams, we will look at each one, and document how we measure up to our aspirations (a Current State Assessment). We then decide what we are going to do about it (an Action Paper).
Updates on each will appear here - scroll down the page to see the latest news:
Our vision for our prayer life at St Andrew’s is that through prayer we may see clearly the path that God’s wants our Vision to take and that by prayer we may be strengthened and supported to make that Vision a reality for Oxshott.
A Working Group, under the leadership of Claire King, undertook an excellent Current State Assessment, and then created an Action Paper, which was agreed by the PCC on 28 February 2008.
Following the implementation of various Actions, which together are making a real difference to our prayer life here at St Andrew's, the Working Group has stood down; oversight of prayer at St Andrew's was formally handed over to the PCC committee, Prayer and Worship, on 26 January 2010. Mary-Beth Hawrish is now our Prayer Co-ordinator.
Our time, talents and money all come from God. Our Vision for stewardship is that we make ourselves and all He has given us available to Him, to achieve His purpose in each of the streams He has revealed to us.
We have started the work on this. Neil Anderson and key members of St Andrew's helped complete the Current State Assessment, which was presented and agreed at the PCC Awayday on 17 July 2010. The next step was to prepare an Action Paper for agreement by the PCC; David Crouch and a small working group have prepared some key recommmendations, and these will be presented to the PCC in July 2011.
Our Vision is to communicate St. Andrew’s to the wider community, ensuring the village knows what we stand for and about everything we do.
A Working Group headed by Nicki Galazka undertook this very thorough Current State Assessment, which was agreed by the PCC on 5 June 2008. The group then produced a series of Actions that were agreed by the PCC - these included a new logo and 'house style', redesigned stationery and re-written leaflets, etc. the rollout of which started in 2009. Further work on external communications is now in hand.
Our vision is that we are well-organised and happy to serve God in whatever way He requires of us with a strong and capable leadership team, a wide network of well-supported, trained and gifted volunteers and suitable resources to do God's work.
We have not yet started the work on this topic.
We are now looking at the Buildings that serve us here in Oxshott; Richard Preston lead the Working Group tackling this, and a detailed Current State Assessment was agreed by the PCC on 18 March 2009; this sets out how our buildings measure up! Richard and the group also produced a 'Statement of Needs', agreed by the PCC, and we then appointed a firm of architects to do a Feasibility Study.
The architects and Brian Cox presented and explained the outcome of the Study, accompanied by a very clear display in the church. Feedback on the different approaches was taken, and after cafeful consideration the key points agreed, and presented at the APCM; the next stage is to have a single design prepared, and this is currently (July 2011) in hand.
