What a wonderfully warm and worshipful weekend Wokefield was!
A real opportunity to spend quality time with people we often only see on a Sunday. And in a relaxed, spacious, comfortable environment, with good food, fun entertainment and plenty of leisure time threaded between stimulating teaching and challenging application.
The teaching material ‘Fruitfulness on the Frontline’ has been developed by The London Institute of Contemporary Christianity (LICC) and not only was it the subject of the Wokefield Weekend teaching, but it also provides the foundation for the teaching series in church and in home groups over the next few weeks.
The concept of ‘Frontline’ is actually very simple, but it’s easy to over-complicate it! In essence, our frontlines are any places where we come into contact with people who don’t know Jesus – it could be in our families, with friends, at work, at school, in the local community, in the supermarket, in our own homes. The idea is that, wherever we are during our week, we have opportunities to be ‘fruitful’ for God, and the weekly sermons in church (recorded on the website) and the home group studies reveal how we can do this.
From a personal point of view, it felt that God’s hand was upon the whole event, before, during and after the weekend, and it truly felt that we were individually and collectively drawn closer to him.
We’re already looking forward to the next weekend away – and we hope that you are too!
