Fruitfulness at Wokefield Park!

What a wonderfully warm and worshipful weekend Wokefield was!

A real opportunity to spend quality time with people we often only see on a Sunday. And in a relaxed, spacious, comfortable environment, with good food, fun entertainment and plenty of leisure time threaded between stimulating teaching and challenging application.

The teaching theme, ‘Fruitfulness: where do we grow from here?’ provided a natural stepping stone to take us from the launch of God’s vision for St Andrew’s in church, and out into the communities where we live and work, to show us how we can start making that vision a reality.

The teaching material ‘Fruitfulness on the Frontline’ has been developed by The London Institute of Contemporary Christianity (LICC) and not only was it the subject of the Wokefield Weekend teaching, but it also provides the foundation for the teaching series in church and in home groups over the next few weeks.

The concept of ‘Frontline’ is actually very simple, but it’s easy to over-complicate it! In essence, our frontlines are any places where we come into contact with people who don’t know Jesus – it could be in our families, with friends, at work, at school, in the local community, in the supermarket, in our own homes. The idea is that, wherever we are during our week, we have opportunities to be ‘fruitful’ for God, and the weekly sermons in church (recorded on the website) and the home group studies reveal how we can do this.
The feedback about the weekend has been extremely positive, especially regarding the fellowship, which is a hugely important part of our lives together as God’s family at St Andrew’s. There were also some very helpful pointers for the future, regarding the overall style of worship and the length and format of the discussion groups, all of which has been taken on board.

From a personal point of view, it felt that God’s hand was upon the whole event, before, during and after the weekend, and it truly felt that we were individually and collectively drawn closer to him.

We’re already looking forward to the next weekend away – and we hope that you are too!
