Patrick’s 75 in 75 – Completed!

The objective of the Garden Route Children’s Trust, one of our Mission Partners, is to educate and feed South African children in need. To help with the funding, Patrick Fleming has challenged himself to walk 75 miles in 75 consecutive hours and raise £3,000 – enough to feed 75 pre-school children with a bowl of fortified porridge for 2 school years.

Patrick decided on the challenge when he realised that he is soon to enter his 75th year. He said that it sounded good at the time but now that he is about to get walking he thinks that maybe it was a rash decision! If you would like to share Patrick’s pain by sponsoring him, you can do so at justgiving.com.

Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference to the physical and mental development of little children who have very little.

Patrick reports…

“I am pleased to report that I made it – I completed the 75 miles yesterday in 61 hours 20 minutes after 30 hours of walking (including stops). Not only that, DUE TO YOUR GENEROSITY I have raised £5,000 (including Gift Aid). THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your support. I am extremely grateful. For the record, on Day 1 I walked the Wey Navigation plus a bit and on Days 2 and 3 it was part of the Thames Path. I have posted start and finish photos in the Gallery – do take a look. Thank you again.”
