Oxshott saw 432 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers on parade through Oxshott to celebrate St George’s Day 2016 and the 100th birthday of the Cubs. 484 people crammed into St Andrew’s including helpers, parents and dignitaries led by special guest, the Mayor of Elmbridge, Cllr Jan Fuller. The Claygate Scout Band led the march up to the High Street and then joined with the St Andrew’s Worship Band for a uplifting service led by Mary-Beth in which all the scouts renewed their promises.
The Mayor, Cllr Fuller said in her vote of thanks at the service that she was very pleased and proud to have been at so many Scout events in her year as mayor and that this was a very special occasion for her. She said that all the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts do such a good job to live up to their promise to do their best. Revd Mary-Beth Hawrish, after giving a talk and presenting a play about the Good Samaritan reminded all the scouts to “go out into the world and do a good turn every day for their neighbours”.
